Full-time & Part-time Jobs, Internships, On-Campus Interviews and Career Events
Search, select and store job listings from all job boards and all company job postings.
First impressions are critical because potential employers size you up based on how you look and how you carry yourself. The clothes you wear during the job-hunting process have as much to do with your first impression as anything else that occurs during a career fair, an interview, or any other aspect of the job search where you will be meeting potential employers. Appearance can make the difference in getting or not getting an internship or job. Correct appearance can be your competitive advantage over someone else.
Unless you are interviewing for an artistic or creative job, recruiters expect to see you in a conservative outfit when you arrive for your job interview. If you are unsure about the proper attire for your interview, visit the organization ahead of time and note the attire of the staff members. Observe how people dress – especially those who hold similar positions to the one for which you are interviewing. If you are unable to visit the office ahead of time, visit their website or examine a company brochure. Examine the outfits that staff members are wearing in photographs. If you do not have access to a website or brochure, you can also call the Front Desk Receptionist at the particular company and ask him/her about the proper dress code.
Once you land a potential job interview, you should identify and try on your complete interview outfit a week before the actual interview, in order to ensure that everything fits properly. On the evening prior to your interview, you should complete a final (thorough) outfit evaluation, to avoid any last minute problems.
