The On-Campus Interview Program is offered during the fall and spring semesters. All interviews are conducted in the Career Services Center (CSC), 1 Elliott University Center. A campus interview is usually a half-hour long and serves as a screening interview for a possible invitation to a second interview. To participate in on-campus interviewing and many of our other services, UNCG graduating students and alumni must
have an active SpartanCareers account. Take the following steps:
- Login to your SpartanCareers account, update the profile information, agree to the Release Statement/No-Show Cancellation Policy, upload your resume and have a career counselor approve it and activate your account.
- If you have completed all of these steps, you are now ready to sign up for interviews.
To Search for Interview Schedules with Employers Recruiting at UNCG
- Login to your SpartanCareers account.
- Put your cursor over Interview Schedules and select Qualified Schedules.
- Click on the Schedule ID to see the specifics of the position and how to apply.
- If this is a Preselect schedule, you will have to submit your resume. You will be notified by the employer when selections are made. If you are selected, you will need to sign up for an interview timeslot.
- If this is an Open schedule, then you will be allowed to choose an open interview timeslot immediately.
Employers choose between two sign-up systems, Pre-Screening and Open Sign-Up, to interview students on campus. For detailed instructions on these procedures and eligibility requirements for campus interviewing, refer to the Career Services Center's Career Guide, available at the CSC. It is important that you read these instructions so that you will understand the interviewing process. If you have questions, call or see Peggy Cox, Recruiting Coordinator, 1 Elliott University Center, 334-5455. Best wishes for a successful job search!
Prescreening - Prescreening allows employers to review (or screen) candidates' resumes before coming to campus. Employers select candidates whom they wish to interview. Students and alumni interested in an employer may submit their resume on SpartanCareers for consideration during the Resume Drop period, approximately 3 weeks before the interview date.
Preselect - After the period for Resume Drop, the employer will indicate pre-selected candidates who may sign up first for interviews. You will need to check back during the appropriate time period to see if you have been selected. If pre-selected, you must still go into the SpartanCareers system and sign up for an interview timeslot.
Open Sign-Up - The Open Sign-up System is used when employers choose not to prescreen, or schedule too late to do so. There is no Resume Drop for Open Sign-Up. Qualified candidates may sign up on SpartanCareers on a first-come, first-served basis.
Interview Cancellation Policy
Students who sign up for interviews are expected to keep their appointments. If, however, you should find yourself unable to attend an interview, please delete your name from the SpartanCareers schedule at least 2 days before your interview. Any cancellation made less than 2 days in advance will be considered late. (SpartanCareers will not allow you to cancel using the website within 2 days of the interview, so you will need to call the Recruiting Coordinator at 334-5455.) Your on-campus interviewing privileges may be suspended after 2 late cancellations. However, if you have an emergency, please call the Recruiting Coordinator (334-5455) so that we may notify the recruiter.
Interview No-Show Policy
A "no-show" is not acceptable and reflects poorly on your future candidacy and on UNCG. Additionally, you may be depriving another student of the opportunity to interview.
A student who "no-shows" may not sign up for further interviews until (s)he writes a letter of apology to the recruiter (1 Elliott University Center) within 5 working days from the interview date. You must mail the original apology letter to the employer and provide a copy of that letter to the Recruiting Coordinator.
A student or alumni candidate who fails to show up for 2 scheduled interviews will lose his/her interviewing privileges.
