The
Department of Religious Studies takes pride in delivering
top-flight nationally recognized university training in
Religious Studies in the context of a “student-centered"
small college atmosphere. Thus, the Department of Religious
Studies seeks to provide exemplary learning environments
and to cultivate in our students the ability to critically
analyze data, to express ideas clearly and effectively
in speech and in writing, and to develop attitudes of
toleration, inquiry, and understanding in the best tradition
of the liberal arts. Undergraduate studies in religion
are designed to prepare students for many possible future
careers and concerns. Students may use the BA in Religious
Studies to pursue advanced degrees in the field and in
cognate fields (Anthropology, Sociology, History, Area
Studies) with a goal of teaching at the college level
or in primary or secondary levels. Many students choose
Religious Studies as a second major along with Education,
Art, History, Psychology, etc. For more information regarding
the Religious Studies Major, please contact Dr. Derek
Krueger, 109 Foust. Phone: 336-334-5762.
