Psychology
is the study of both normal and abnormal behavior, mental
ability, perception, development and individual differences.
In addition, psychological study explores human emotions,
thoughts, and motives. Among the major sub-branches within
psychology are educational psychology, social psychology,
comparative psychology, psychometrics, developmental psychology,
biopsychology, abnormal psychology, applied psychology,
cognitive psychology, sports psychology, organizational
psychology, school psychology, and the psychology of personality.
Although assistant positions in psychology and a variety
of business opportunities are available to those with
a bachelor's degree, at least a master's degree is required
for professional work involving testing and counseling.
UNCG offers a BA in Psychology. For more information on
the psychology major go to the
department’s
