UNCG offers a BS in Nutrition with concentrations in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Nutrition Science, and Nutrition and Wellness:
- The Human Nutrition and Dietetics concentration provides students with training to develop
nutritional strategies and programs for people with
acute and chronic illnesses, as well as wellness programs
to prevent the onset of chronic diseases. Registered
Dietitians (RD’s) have completed an intensive
study of all aspects of nutrition and health and must
complete a post-BS Certificate - Dietetic Internship before being eligible
to take the national RD exam. For more information
contact Ms. Amy Strickland 256-1037, amy_strickland@uncg.edu.
- The Nutrition Science program provides
students with training in nutrition, biology, and
chemistry to pursue careers in the medical sciences,
biomedical research, and biotechnology. This program
largely fulfills the academic prerequisites for admission
to medical, osteopathic, and dental schools. For more
information, contact Dr. Ron Morrison in Room 310
of the Stone Building at 256-0321 or rfmorris@uncg.edu.
- Nutrition Wellness concentration
will prepare students for careers in volunteer and
community health centers, government and educational
organizations, and a variety of settings in the fitness
industry. This concentration also prepares students
for graduate training in health-related disciplines.
Students majoring in Nutrition and Wellness take courses
in nutrition, public health education, and exercise
and sport science. Students graduate with a major
in nutrition and a minor in health studies. For more
information contact Dr. Lauren Haldeman at 256-0311
