The
study of music encompasses many different career paths.
A music performance degree is a professional music degree
that prepares students for future careers as performers,
composers, and/or teachers. A music education degree prepares
students for positions as choral directors or teachers
of general music or for positions as instrumental directors
in public schools. The BA music degree is a liberal arts
degree that provides valuable undergraduate preparation
for a variety of careers, including music historian. A
degree in composition prepares students to create original
music for small and large groups of performers. They transcribe
ideas into musical notation using harmony, rhythm, melody
and form. Most composers now write and edit music using
