The
Department of Romance Languages offers a variety of programs
in language, literature, and culture in three areas: French,
Spanish, and Italian. Students can obtain a BA in French
or Spanish. The Department of German, Russian, and Japanese
Studies offers a BA degree in German and Russian and courses
in Japanese. Expanding general knowledge of the culture
and developing a cultural awareness and sensitivity is
an important part of a foreign language major. Proficiency
in more than one language is becoming a valuable tool
that enhances a student's occupational possibilities.
K-12 Special Subject-Area Licensure is also possible and
that is further described in the UNCG undergraduate bulletin
under Teacher Education Licensure Programs. To all ends
a variety of study abroad opportunities are also available.
For more information on a foreign language major contact

Wendy Jones-Worden in 2318 MHRA(Spanish, Romance Languages),
Andreas Lixl in 1129 MHRA(German & Russian), and

interested in studying abroad should contact these advisors
and the International Program Center at 334-5404. Visit these departments online:Romance Languages at
