Classical Studies is the study of the languages, literatures, beliefs, and cultures of ancient Greece and Rome. Students explore the archaeology, art, mythology, poetry, rhetoric, history, philosophy, religion and other aspects of these ancient societies. This study provides a background for understanding contemporary civilization, which can be applied to the arts, business, industry, the media education and other areas. UNCG offers a B.A. in Classical Studies with concentrations in Classical Archaeology, Classical Civilization and Classical Language and Literature. Training is also available for those interested in teaching Latin at the middle or high school levels. Typically, students holding a Bachelor degree in Classical Studies find positions in business, teaching, publishing and any field which values a liberal arts degree. Additional education opens many doors in the arts, journalism, library sciences, medicine and law.
