Business Attire

For Part-time Job Fairs, Etiquette programming, and employer information sessions, business casual dress will be appropriate.  While less formal, this attire still needs to create a professional image.  You must still “dress to impress.”

Business casual dress is a middle ground between business formal wear and casual dress.  It is conservative rather than trendy.  Attire must be clean, unwrinkled, and look professional.  It should not be tight or baggy.

For Women
  • A reasonable length skirt (not mini-skirt) or full-length trousers of a non-jeans material combined with a top (such as a dress shirt or sweater set) is considered acceptable.
  • A conservative dress with appropriate skirt length is also acceptable.
For Men
  • A combination of collared shirt (such as a dress shirt or polo shirt) and cotton (such as khakis) or wool trousers with a leather belt.
  • Long-sleeved shirts are considered dressier than short-sleeved and are appropriate even in summer - a conservative solid color or conservative stripe is the safest choice.
  • Polo shirts (tucked in) are acceptable in more casual situations.
  • Leather shoes (matching the belt) with dark socks are appropriate.
  • A blazer or business jacket can optionally be added.
Unacceptable for All
  • No gym clothes, jeans, wrinkled clothing, inappropriately revealing attire such as bare midriffs.
  • No flip-flops, sandals, athletic shoes, or hiking boots.  (Many corporations also frown upon open-toed shoes for women.)
