Logo 1.gifWelcome to the Federal Work Study Community Service Program page.  If you have been awarded Federal Work Study funds and are interested in earning your award at a community service site, you’ve come to the right place!

The FWS Community Service Program is a great opportunity for you to gain meaningful experience while giving back to the community. In addition to the traditional community service sites where a student might work with a youth program or at a shelter, we have a variety of programs that range from working with horses at a therapeutic recreation facility to learning to archive materials at the local museum.

Currently there are 14 agencies participating in this partnership. To learn more about these sites and available positions, log into SpartanCareers and select "Off-Campus Work Study” under Position Type within the job search function. Seize the opportunity to have a unique work-study experience that leaves a positive impact on the community!

Application Process
In order to apply to the program, please e-mail Jessica Majkowycz at jtmajkow@uncg.edu for an application. As part of the application process you will need to submit an up-to-date resume.  Once these materials have been submitted, you will be contacted to schedule a pre-screening interview with the SEO counselor.

Following the pre-screening interview, your application will be forward to the appropriate agency and you will be provided contact information to set up an on-site interview. It is your responsibility to get in touch with the representative and to bring a copy of the Learning Contract.  The purpose of the Learning Contract is to provide structure to your experience by outlining specific projects and/or tasks that you plan to complete.  This is to ensure that you get the most out of your experience. Although the first visit is an opportune time to discuss these matters, it does not have to be completed at the initial meeting. However, the Learning Contract must be turned in before you start employment.  A copy of the contract can be found here.

If you accept a position offer, you must notify Jessica Majkowycz at either jtmajkow@uncg.edu or (336) 256-0394.
